whenever i first started my job (i don't know how it happened, seriously--i don't even get chances like this 2 years later), i got the opportunity to design a floor graphic for a children's facility. it was my baby.
the installers did a FANTASTIC job. from what i hear, they had to deal with someone turning the a/c on and off for 5 days. in case you don't know, that can be tragic to an installation of natural materials because they shrink and swell with the temperature. whoever pulled it off is my hero.
here are some pictures from the install. for copyright reasons i can't give any more info other than it's linoleum, and its for kiddos. i am SO proud. (i even did the custom tackboards on the walls).

on its way
i love etsy. i could waste an entire day looking at the most obscure categories of cool things. even oven mits can be fascinating. in fact, most times the number of choices is so overwhelming, even for one very narrow category, that i give up.
well not this time. nope. i am the proud new owner of the above tote bag (only mine is black and white stripes, but it was a hard choice between the gray and white and black and white). it can hold all my stuff and has a chapstick/phone pocket. that's essential for me. i always need quick access to my chapstick.
check out crazy boy's selection here. super cute bags!

peace
a family of four + a large dog all in this tiny cabin. at first i was like "umm, yeah, no way." but once i took the virtual tour, i found it strangely calming. after sharing with some co-workers, it became quite the conversation piece. you'd be surprised how many people dream of a beyond-simple and crowded little cabin in the middle of nowhere. i'll admit--its appealing, for sure.
nothing but you and the wilderness. no modern-day technologies, no communication with the outside world, no luxuries--living how God intended us to live: with the bare minimum. part of this desire might be my longing for a canadian summer climate because i sure wouldn't want insulation-free walls in the winters, there! but man, it sure would feel great right now. the 110 heat indexes are getting to be a little much.
it consists of a 10x12 living space (including kitchenette) and a 6x10 sleeping space, for a whopping 180 sq ft total, plus a deck. but let's not forget the acres and acres of forest where you can have all the alone time you want if things get crowded!
check it out and tell me if by the end of the article you don't want to spend some time here. make sure you check out the view from the outhouse!

is it football season yet?
as i was cruising the internet for fresh auburn gear (my freshman year college shirts have seen better days--we're talking armpit holes, letters peeling off--its not pretty) when i stumbled upon a few baby items. i'm at that stage of life where everyone around me is either pregnant or just had a baby (seriously there are 8 i can name off the top of my head).
i almost want to buy these items and keep them until i need them one day. they are too cute.
if you're curious or need a good gift for a baby shower, they're all on amazon. probably cheaper than those cutsie stores on campus, too.
(if you can't tell, my children will have almost no choice when chosing their team alliance. i was born an auburn fan, i went to auburn, its in my blood and i am proud of it...probably a little too proud. and yes, i can turn into that over-defensive auburn fan if you push my buttons. but for good reason!)

in light of football season
these are now mine. well--and because of all the overtime i've been working i thought i deserved a treat. i got them on sale for $35. they are just as comfy as they are cute.
i can't remember the last time i bought myself anything. in fact, i think the last thing i bought were those danish modern chairs for $50 off craigslist. i'm proud of myself for being so disciplined for so long, but nothing beats that "new shoes for a good deal" feeling.
they are from born. check out the rest of the collection here.
